RLP – Family Stories: Duangchai (Soukhouma: Cohort 1 – Part 3)

Since your last visit I have finished my rice harvesting. We produced 70 bags of rice. I have a large family –there are myself, my husband, and our seven children.Rice will be enough for my family until July. This means that we will have a rice deficit until December, when we can harvest again. Since your last visit, one of my sons also got very sick. He had a fever for three days, and we had to take him to the district clinic. The treatment cost 110,000 kip (13.55USD), but the transport was free as my relative took us in his car. My husband also gets bad back pain and has to take medicine daily. He buys it locally for about 2,000-3,000kip per day (0.25-0.37USD).
