“My name is Duangchai, and I am 30 years old. My husband is 38 years old. I was born in a nearby village, and moved here after I married. My parents were rice farmers, and I grew up helping them on our rice fields. They were poor – but unlike most people in our village, we had our own paddy land, so we were always food secure.
