“My name is Daomany, and I am 55 years old. I moved to this village when I married – about 30 years ago. We had 2 children, but both of them died when they were less than a year old. I never went to school, and neither did my husband. My parents were also illiterate, and were laborers on other people’s rice fields. They were very poor – but I’d say, even then, life was easier than it is now.
